Not so sure about the 'parts serial numbers' thing.
By analogy to current Earth technology, only complex components can have serial numbers (for instance CPUs), most other components cannot, and trying to implement a serial numbers to 'discrete' components would make them vastly more expensive, pulling all production costs up.
It would not just be a productivity/cost ratio either, it would also impact long-term reliability (MTBF) due to the required increase in complexity of the components just to be able to implement such serial numbers.
And it could not be just a visual coding in electronics, since the whole surface of various components is already used to identify its specs (see color codes).

Besides this, serial numbers should not be easily accessible from the outside of the components, or they could be removed as easily as someone filing away the serial number of a gun; which would be the first step taken by any criminal.

Okay, you´re right. You obviously thought about this more than I

Not really, just listing things I already knew.

Bad examples, all 3 are complex devices, not small parts.
Besides which any easy to access serial number can be just as easily removed; each of those serial numbers could be easily removed by any criminal wanting to use or sell those devices.
